Alec Coupe
Alec Coupe is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Linguistics and Multilingual Studies at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. He holds a Ph.D in descriptive linguistics from La Trobe University and is a specialist in Tibeto-Burman linguistics. His main research focus is the languages of north-east India, particularly those spoken in the hill state of Nagaland and adjacent regions. In addition to documenting for these languages posterity, he is interested in stimulating community involvement in language documentation and maintenance to ensure that the rich linguistic heritage of north-east India is passed on to future generations. Alec and colleagues at Nanyang Technological University are currently involved in setting up a digital archive in Singapore to serve as a future repository for Asia’s intangible heritage.
